Many hours of preparation and teamwork goes into making every pair of ski poles. Here at USSPC, we have a specialized team of workers for every step of the process and all play a very important role in the development of the United States Ski Pole Company.
Andy – Founder, majority owner:
Andy is the lifeblood of USSPC. He’s a USCG Veteran and received an Honorable discharge in 2005. He earned a BA in Physical Education / Coaching, and Nutrition from Northern Michigan University where he was the ski team Captain, MVP, and U.S. National Collegiate skier of the year in 2011. This ski experience and coaching passion combined opens all doors necessary for the demo clinics Andy has been hosting across the continent over the past 2 years. Andy has also deferred all work pay to keep the company moving forward, so he earns 100% of his income from coaching privately online. Andy also wrote and published a book in 2011 titled, ‘Wild Shot’ - Struggles and Successes in Biathlon and Cross Country Skiing.
Andy is gifted with an innovative engineering eye and hands of mechanical greatness, so many of the machinery improvements were fabricated by Andy’s concepts and direct application. He worked seasonally for Holmenkol, a German based ski wax company, where he self-built a 1,000+ ski industry contact database. His athletic experience and industry contacts have been the foundation of the business start-up and continued growth.
Roger (Andy’s father) – Educator and financial adviser, Ret.:
Roger offered to step in and offer the business employees HR services, retirement plans, and has been the prime purchasing officer and manager for all 15 textile pieces, which go into USSPC’s most fan favored component, the deluxe thermal straps. Through months of fabric sourcing and testing, cutting applications, and preparing sewing companies, Roger has mastered this process better than all our worldly competitors and we have a 100% customer retention rate who use the deluxe thermal straps. He volunteers during time imminent orders to help ensure USSPC will deliver efficiently and with top quality perfection.
David – Materials Wrapper Specialist and Product Finalization Specialist:
David was one of the first employees hired and has seen every step of the large transition of the production line. He has achieved all production certifications and without question can be depended upon to follow through with any task requested of him to the best of his ability. David has been and will remain a key employee with USSPC.
Prior to employment with USSPC, David was a star employee of Sinclair International in Indiana for 14 years overseeing many manufacturing duties related to weapons. He decided to return to Cheboygan and work in his home town.
Amy – Retail Sales, Customer Service, Office:
Amy has raised the bar of communication amongst all members of the USSPC team. She’s a shining star, fearless on the phone, and extremely receptive to who she’s speaking with. Amy joined USSPC in the summer of 2017 and has boosted sales by an additional 10%. By Amy taking over direct retail sales and reaching out to our customer base on a daily basis, Andy has been more capable to reach more ski clubs and events.
Prior to Amy’s employment with USSPC she was employed by a County Office of Education in California where she worked with vendors and customers for 15 years along with perusing her degree in Social Sciences and Business Office programs. All that experience is now transferred to full capacity with USSPC’s high demands due to our limited staff.
James – Sewing and Product Finalization Specialist:
James is an excellent worker. His on the job training has allowed him to sew all USSPC biathlon straps, which are used in the Military orders as well. He also works in the manufacturing shop to prepare the poles for customers. James is a long-time Cheboygan resident and enjoys his work at USSPC. During the summer months James works on Mackinaw Island as a Bicycle repairman.
Brock – Graphic Designer:
Brock is USSPC’s passionate graphic designer and has all the abilities to satisfy each customer’s individual needs of custom ski pole graphics. His communication skills are excellent, which is essential for this position as he’s consistently communicating directly with the customer about each detail of the designs. Brock is remotely located in West Jordan, Utah, but we consider him an employee at heart as the world sees what he designs and that reflects the USSPC brand.
